Patriot Week is a grassroots effort in which flexibility, innovation, and custom made activities are the norm and expectation. Although many participants follow the calendar, others focus on a few themes.

- School lessons: Projects, assemblies, morning announcements, red white and blue days, mock trials, class and hallway displays, flag raising ceremonies, and contests Historic re-enactments and demonstrations
- Activities at community centers, senior living communities and senior centers
- Guest speakers, debates and panel discussions
- 9/11 ceremony with first responders
- Gravesite dedication with the Daughters of the American Revolution
- Lessons and projects at Detroit Country Day School, Lincoln-King Academy, home schools, Pontiac High School, Rochester Adams High School, Shrine Catholic High School, Washington-Parks Academy, Cornerstone Schools, and Waterford Schools
- Court activities, including mock trials, special assemblies and special flag demonstrations
- Media coverage, including public service announcements, editorials and guest commentaries
- Newsletter distribution
